Breakfast Club at Merton Bank
At Merton Bank, we are committed to ensuring that every child starts the day ready to learn, thrive and succeed.
We recognise that a positive start to the morning has a significant impact on children’s wellbeing, readiness to learn and overall achievement. Our breakfast club is rooted in this belief—providing a calm, welcoming and nurturing start to the school day where every child feels safe, settled and cared for.
As part of the government’s Best Start in Life initiative, we are proud to offer a dual-approach breakfast provision that supports both our families and our children in a flexible and inclusive way.
From April, our breakfast offer runs in two parts:
- 7:45am – 8:15am (Paid Provision):
This earlier session is designed to support working families who require extended childcare. Children are welcomed into a calm environment where they can enjoy breakfast and engage in quiet, structured activities to ease them into the day. - 8:15am – 8:45am (Free Provision):
As part of the funded national programme, this session is available to all children. It ensures that every child has access to a healthy breakfast and a settled start, removing barriers and supporting equity across our school community.
Our breakfast club is more than just food—it is an important part of our pastoral offer. Children benefit from:
- A calm and purposeful start to the day
- Opportunities to build relationships and develop social skills
- Support for emotional wellbeing and regulation
- Improved punctuality and readiness for learning
This provision reflects our core values of care, respect and resilience, ensuring that no child begins the school day at a disadvantage. By offering both a paid and free option, we are able to meet the diverse needs of our families while maintaining a strong focus on inclusion, consistency and high-quality provision.
At Merton Bank, we believe that how the day starts matters—and our breakfast club is a key part of getting this right for every child.
