Personal, Social and Emotional Development

We help the children become independent very quickly in Reception.  They learn to put on their outdoor suits and wellington boots on their own, wash the dishes, tidy up, put on their shoes, eat with a knife and fork, go to the toilet and wash their hands and lots of other clever skills!

We talk about different feelings: happy, sad, angry and scared.  We use stories, puppets and real life scenarios to help children understand that we all have feelings and that it’s ok to feel happy, sad, angry or scared.

Children learn how to share, take turns and play together in a group.  They learn how to use their words to sort problems out and how to ask a grown-up for help if they need it.  They learn good manners and how to be kind, caring and respectful to each other.
