Welcome to Year 4
Our Year 4 Team
Teacher – Miss Heaton
I’m Miss Heaton and I’ll be the Y4 class teacher this year. I am very excited for the year ahead and have planned lots of fun activities and topics for us to explore this year
Teaching Assistants – Miss Westhorpe and Miss Thomas
Things to remember
- Spellings and times tables will be sent home on a Friday.
- Remember to read 3 times a week and bring your book and reading diary in every day.
- Pupils do not need to have a pencil case of their own in school. A book bag and packed lunch bag will suffice.
- Children need to bring their own water bottles and take them home each day
- Attendance at school is compulsory
PE
On Wednesdays your child has PE so they will need to come to school in their PE kit (No football kits, rugby kits)
PE kit is black or navy shorts with a white t shirt. A tracksuit or leggings can be worn over this.
Children can wear trainers on this day and keep pumps in their book bag for that day.

Ukulele Lessons
In year 4 we have a peripatetic music teacher that comes in to teach the children how to play the ukulele. They look at how to play the different individual notes, chords and they learn how to read music. They learn a wide range of songs across the year and it is a great way for the children to have the opportunity to begin learning an instrument.

Our Curriculum
Throughout the year we will get stuck into the curriculum and explore lots of different topics and themes. Whether it be researching the UK and Europe, finding out about the Roman Empire or knowing what it was like to live in Ancient Greece, I can guarantee we’ll have lots of fun.
Autumn Term
Already since our return, we’ve explored Worry Monsters, started our class book for the term (Charlotte’s Web) and got well under way with a fabulous rainbow art project to display in our KS2 hall.
