Welcome to our Nursery

Our Nursery Team

Teacher – Mrs McKenna

Teaching Assistants – Mrs Cronin and Miss Johnston

Learning in Nursery takes place through a combination of child initiated, adult modelled play activities and direct teaching. We take the lead from our children and we plan activities and enhance the environment around their interests. We believe children learn and develop their skills best when they are happy and we aim to always provide a happy, nurturing environment in Nursery where your child can flourish.

Assessment in the Foundation stage is carried out through observations. These observations inform teachers’ planning and provide the ‘next steps’ for your child’s learning. Below are the main areas which we focus on in Nursery.

General Information

PE

Your class teacher will inform you when your child needs to come to school in their PE kit.

PE kit is black shorts with a white t shirt. A black tracksuit or leggings can be worn over this. Trainers are needed for outdoor PE and black pumps are needed for indoor PE.

Children can wear trainers on their PE day and keep pumps in their book bag to change into for that day.

Collecting your child

Please collect your child from the Nursery entrance, where you will be greeted by a member of the Nursery team.

Attendance at school is compulsory
